1st Asia Pacific Humanitarian Leadership Conference
26th - 28th April 2017
The Asia Pacific Humanitarian Leadership Conference is the first event of its kind in the region to debate and discuss some of the critical challenges and opportunities for the humanitarian system in the region and globally.

Deadline for Call for Papers (Abstracts) is 17th February, 2017.
The conference will cover four main themes:
Diversity & Leadership -
Exploring the impact of diversity and leadership in the humanitarian system. Exploring areas including youth leadership, local leadership, paradigms of leadership, gender, disability and ethnicity within the humanitarian leadership context.
Localisation -
Exploring the outcomes of the World Humanitarian Summit commitments on localisation and what it means for humanitarian practice and leadership. Exploring areas including local staff, NDMOs and Government, role of communities, and the established system letting go of control.
Populations on the Move -
Exploring the issues facing the humanitarian system in light of the significant populations on the move globally and in the region. Exploring areas such as forced migration and conflict, climate change and the concept of ‘humanitarian retreat’.
Humanitarian Ethics & Principles -
Exploring humanitarian ethics and principles in the region and beyond. Exploring ethics and principles, agencies being ‘service providers,’ competition and collaboration, private sector response and self-interest as a barrier to change.
